Kevin Hall, Director
A lifelong valley resident, Kevin spent his boyhood in the unincorporated Madera County neighborhood of Eastside Acres, part of “greater Firebaugh” as he describes it, three doors down from the San Joaquin River. His family moved into Fresno when he was 12 years old where he eventually graduated from Fresno State with a degree in English. He began his work on air pollution and climate change in 1999 as a volunteer with the Sierra Club-Tehipite Chapter where he served for ten years as Air Quality, Transportation & Global Warming chair, and in 2003 he helped to establish CVAQ.
His professional background includes 13 years in the agricultural magazine and farm show industry where he worked as a reporter, editor, publisher and trade show promoter; and six years as a community and political organizer for several labor unions, most recently the National Union of Healthcare Workers. Kevin also spent two years as founder and president of San Joaquin Valley Strategies, a Fresno-based company specializing in political campaigns and communications.
A former Fresno County Planning Commissioner, he is a past recipient of the California League of Conservation Voters’ Environmental Activist of the Year Award, Sierra Club California’s John Zierold Award, the Sierra Club-Tehipite Chapter’s Conservationist of the Year, and the American Agricultural Editors Association’s Opinion Writer of the Year. He lives in Fresno with his wife, Anne, and their son, Joey.
