Clean Air Leadership Institute (CALI) The Clean Air Leadership Institute (CALI) is an opportunity for individuals to build their capacity to the next level and take steps to get their community involved in campaign events and actions for clean air. Annually, CVAQ provides in-depth training and guidance to develop grassroots activists into leaders of the regional clean air movement.
Each participant will:
· Build leadership skills · Develop networking skills · Work with a mentor · Focus on a specific air quality related campaign · Organize a clean air event in their community
Grassroots Assistance Program (GAP)
The Grassroots Assistance Program is designed to assist existing CVAQ member groups most in need. We want to help those organizations be able to remain committed in executing clean air work. The ultimate goal for each participating member group is to submit a grant application that is connected to CVAQ's priorities
Training topics include:
· Development/Sustainability Planning, · Grant/Foundation Research, and Grant Writing · Opportunities to network and be more connected to CVAQ work · Fundraising Strategies
Action Day is a fun and important visit to the Capitol to educate legislators on the need for clean air in the San Joaquin Valley. Hundreds of Valley residents have participated in this annual event and have met with over 200 decision-makers and their staff, resulting in many of CVAQ’s top legislative priorities being enacted into law. Some examples include: Air District Board Reform (SB 719, 2007) and the SB 700 series (2003).
All CVAQ Meeting This is an annual gathering for all coalition members to determine CVAQ priorities and network. The meeting is held locally during the Spring.
